Error updating sensor temp 1 spam when wifi off

Post by Geonovast »

I'm having a small annoying issue with my new laptop. LM 18.3/MATE. It's an Acer Aspire 5 A515-51G-5536.

Generally I shut off the wifi when I'm plugged in with an ethernet cable. However, lately, this has been causing one of the sensors to switch to ERROR and I get notification spam (every 3-4 seconds) that there's an error updating that sensor. Turn the wifi back on, and the sensor goes back to its value, and the spam stops.

Is disabling the wifi somehow actually cutting the signal to that sensor? Is there any log I need to look at?

Another concern, as you can see, is that that sensor tends to be much hotter than the rest of them. If I run the computer hard (specifically playing Kerbal Space Program, which is very CPU intensive), it gets so hot that the wifi shuts itself off and I get the ERROR with the notification spam. I bought a 6 fan cooling pad for it, which has stopped the wifi overheating, but it's still always hotter than the rest.

I have the same problem with my computer : Eurocom Shark 4, Limux Mint 18,3 / Mate

Did you find any solution?

I wonder if this could be a hardware problem (ie. motherboard issues), because sometimes I have keyboard keys and headphone jack not working on my machine.
