First, I should say that I'm running LM 17.3x live. OK, I used to run it that way and upgraded to 18.3. Since, every Linux/Ubuntu distro I've tried has encountered severe lagging issues. I, at first, thought the 'upgrade" to 18.3 was the problem, but I've tried 5 other distros and all experience the same issue at some point or another. I found this: sudo gedit /etc/sysctl.conf vm.swappiness = 15, but all it did was set in the terminal(never executed). OK, so I'd like to alleviate all the lagging...could someone enlighten me?

Re: 17.3 xfce constant lagging
first place to look is in
number one: delete your
.xsession-errors
it's where everything gets dumped as a user and some are just regular GTK or other bugs some may help you number one: delete your
.xsession-errors
and REBOOT ... when everything is booted and loaded maybe wait 30 seconds and let it load FIRST thing you do is open up .xsession-errors
which is a lot of gibberish but some of those codes you can put into googlecom
