Any good (and good looking) chess apps?

Post by Schultz » Fri May 18, 2018 7:39 pm

I'm looking for a good chess app. I've looked at a few, and the screenshots were all ugly. Are they any good looking chess apps out there? But I can live with ugly if any of them play decently. Thanks.

Schultz:
I play a lot of chess. Listed below are my choices:

1. Dreamchess - Good 3D graphics and rock stable with an excellent AI. My fav..

2. Brutalchess - also good 3d graphics. Based on Battle Chess. AI is not quite to the level of Dreamchess.

3. GL Chess - A good 2d game for laptops or PC's with limited graphics.

All are available from the Mint software center.

Hope this helps.

Eboard, in combination with the chess engine Crafty:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install eboard crafty
.... but I prefer playing against human opponents at Chess.com.

Thanks fellas. Also, thanks Pjotr for informing me about chess.com, it is better to play against real people, and also against a variety of people.
