Flashgot

Post by sswcharlie »

Hi
LM17 Cinammon

Have downloaded Linux vs of Flashgot 1.5.6.14. Shows on Tools ok. None of the dropdown menu works at this point, some greyed out.

How do I get it to work. Is there a terminal command to run now ?

thanks

Charles Harris

Flashgot is a Firefox add on and is not a mint program so it is possible that it's not compatible with the Firefox version you are running.
I find that Uget works quite well with FF you may want to try that.
good luck.

1 - There is no linux version, they're all the same.
2 - Did you literally download it, rather than hitting a button labeled "Add to Firefox" ?

Your version of firefox would be handy to know because
Version 1.5.6.14 Released Nov. 30, 2016 387.2 KiB Works with Firefox 14.0 - 56.*, SeaMonkey 2.17 - *, Thunderbird 14.0 - 52.0

Is this the version I should download for a 32 bit laptop ?

And then use these instructions as below - (I am chronogically impaired (old age!!)

Thanks

Install via the official uGet PPA

By using the official uGet PPA repository, ppa:plushuang-tw/uget-stable, you will be kept up to date with the latest versions of uGet automatically through Ubuntu's Software Updater.

Current Stable Version: 2.2.0

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:plushuang-tw/uget-stable
sudo apt update
sudo apt install uget

Install via the Mint Software Manager

Linux Mint bases their distro only on LTS versions of Ubuntu, which in general this is just fine but this can also result in providing very old versions of packages to users. Unfortunately, uGet is one of the packages affected by this issue.

Latest version of uGet in Linux Mint's repository: 1.10.4

Linux Mint Fatal Error / Warning* It is NOT Recommended for uGetters to install from Linux Mint's official repo. Please use our PPA or one of the DEB packages.
software center icon
1. Open the MSM and search for uget
2. Enable the "Universe Repository" when prompted.
3. Click the Install button on the uGet MSM page.
custom aria2 icon faenza style
Install the aria2 Plugin

Using the Linux Mint repo for installing the aria2 Plugin is sufficient for the features utilized by uGet.
software center icon sudo apt install aria2
