SOLVED Hosting my own podcast server

Post by charvey » Wed May 23, 2018 12:25 am

This may be the wrong place to ask, but i took a shot. I have a small pod-cast on a paid site that host my files (mp3's) and a few image files. the upside is i get to have a RSS feed to Google music and Itunes. The down side is i am going to have to pay for the service to actually host the files.
I know i can run Apache for the website, but i am no pro at anything server related. is it possible i can host the mp3's and the website on my system myself ?
what exactly would i need , mysql? apache? can i have / set up an RSS feed ? yes, it would be a project. i like a challenge , any good reason this wont work?
any help appreciated, how big a project is this going to be ?

It is possible to have your own site with more. What comes to my mind
1. You should no how to build a web site. It's a very vast field and there are tools like deepak etc which help you build sites. Learning Drupal itself isn't a mean task.
2. Google offers site hosting . Please explore.
If you host the site on your infrastructure, you have to keep all the equipment on for 24 hours, provided you want it that way.
It would be cheaper and more reliable to have your site hosted in the cloud.
You will need to have your own domain name by registering with somebody like GODADDY etc.
If I have helped you solve a problem, please add [SOLVED] to your first post title, it helps other users looking for help, and keeps the forum clean.
I am using Mint 19 Cinnamon 64 bit with AMD A8/7410 processor . Memory 8GB
