Certian APT functions create a Segmentation fault

Greetings,

I have searched for an answer to this problem but it persists.

I tried the following but it did not help:

I figure this might be a corrupt file somewhere, perhaps the unpacker? I tested tar and it works:

At this point I feel my only option is to reinstall the OS from scratch. :(
