Suddenly getting complaints about libstdc++ in LD_PRELOAD

Post by einpoklum » Wed Jun 06, 2018 5:58 pm

I don't remember what my LD_PRELOAD used to be set to. But - today, I started getting error message whenever I run anything:

Code: Select all

ERROR: ld.so: object '/lib64/libstdc++.so.6' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded (cannot open shared object file): ignored.
so, I looked at LD_PRELOAD, and it turns out to contain /lib64/libstdc++.so.6 - which doesn't exist.

Now, I never set it to that value; what could have? That is, where should I look for scripts whcih may cause this to be set? I don't want to have to manually remove it from LD_PRELOAD...

Long story short: Some evil source package configuration script was sticking things into my ~/.bashr - specifically, LD_PRELOAD, C_INCLUDE_PATH, CC, CXX and friends.
