Hi,
This is my first post here.
I am running Mint 18.2 Sonya and the newest Brave Browser (Version 4.13.0-45-generic).
The problem is Brave takes 50 seconds to start up the first time. If I close it and start again it takes 11 seconds.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks

Re: Brave Browser slow on start up
Is anyone using the Brave Browser?
Does anyone else have a slow startup time with it?
How would I go about looking into why this is happening?
Thanks in Advance.

Let me start again.

Re: Brave Browser slow on start up
I don't use it but you can't always count on your questions being answered in a timely fashion or at all on volunteer based forums like this. Have you tried searching "site:forums.linuxmint.com Brave Browser" (the built in forum search here stinks) or just "linux ubuntu Brave Browser"? I use Ubuntu rather than Mint in search prefixes usually because Mint's Ubuntu based and Ubuntu has a much, much bigger user base. But if you do that use Ubuntu answers for the release your Mint is based on.
You should always give out more system info too, copy/paste this to the terminal and copy/paste the text output here ...
inxi -Fxz
... and where did you get Brave from?

Re: Brave Browser slow on start up
yes, that's how it works. chrome is the same way opening the first time of the day.
Re: Brave Browser slow on start up
How did you install? If you used the snap, I know there is a bit of a delay.
The whole thing is an electron app which isn't very resource friendly itself.
When I get home from work, I will load it and see if I get same results.

Re: Brave Browser slow on start up
Thank you for the replies. I apologize for my impatience.
I did search for the problem and came up with many references to Brave being slow but no solutions. I thought I would ask if anyone else had this problem and if they had a solution.
I installed Brave by adding the repository as instructed here:

Re: Brave Browser slow on start up
Hey there. I am running Brave on 2 different distros (different machines), PCLinuxOS and Mint Silvia (KDE)
After a fresh book on either distro, the first launch of Brave takes 8 seconds. Anytime after closing brave, the following launches takes 3 seconds (on either distro). I do remember the first launch after installing did take a little longer for the first time but going from memory, it would be somewhere about the 8-10 second mark.
I have been using Brave for a while now, and this seems to be the pattern that I have seen. On the exact same machines, I have about the same numbers for the first boot and subsequent boots for Firefox.

Do you have prelink or preload installed.
I also have Firfox installed and it takes 8 seconds the first time to launch and 3 seconds after that. If I could get Brave to load at that speed that would be great.

Re: Brave Browser slow on start up SOLVED
I figured out why Brave takes so long to load. I was clearing out my cache and history when I closed the program and as long as I don't clear out all of it Brave starts up in about 5 seconds.
Thanks for everyone's help.
