Sharing files Mint18.3/W7

Post by Chriske » Sat Jun 16, 2018 4:07 pm

Hi
Just installed Linux Mint 18.3 on yet another laptop.
Next VirtualBox and W7. Next some 3D software in W7.
Also Samba in Mint.
Did sharings on both systems.

I can see, copy, delete and use Win files from within Linux, but I can not see Linux files from W7.
Do I need some more tools to install to have bidirectional file sharing.

From W7 I can see the Linux computer in the networksettings. But clicking that Linux icon, I only get a blank screen.
I also can see all the devices in my network(about 9)

Is W7 in a VirtualBox?

Windows can't see Linux files because it can't read EXT4 file systems.

Usually, any files that are shared in VirtualBox, you set up a shared folder in the virtual machine.

Well, on another laptop, I installed earlier, I have just the opposite. From within W7 (also in a VirtualBox) I can read and copy Linux files. But I cannot see W7 files from the Linux OS.
Can't figure out why that is.
But I should add that on that first machine I did install far more Samba tools than in the Laptop I'm working on now. Maybe that has to to with it...?
