Firefox Stuck At Version 47.0 [solved]
I've encountered a problem with Firefox that I don't know how to solve. I previously used a different browser, but decided to switch to Firefox a couple of days ago. I thought all was going well until I had a website complain that Firefox was out of date. I know there can be a lag when updates are released, but I checked the version anyway and saw that it's version 47.0 - seriously out of date! Both the browser's "About" section and "firefox -v" say that it is version 47.0. The updater claims that everything is up to date even after refreshing/rebooting. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling. The version available in the package manager also claims to be version 47.0. Where should I start in order to fix this? Is there something wrong with my package manager or updater? Thank you in advance for any help that can be offered!

Re: Firefox Stuck At Version 47.0
try using Package Manager AKA synaptic.
on the Top Left - - click on Reload ..
then see if the "Apply" Icons is still grayed out or if it can now be clicked on.
do allow any changes that it suggests, to go through.

Hello, Johari.
Marziano is on the right track.
Guess he remembers that we had the same case only a few weeks back.
Same culprit. Same solution.
Please, see here: Firefox stuck at 57 on one machine, others update to 60

Alright, try the following in a terminal:
When the file opens, put a
Save and close the file.
Now run the Update Manager and click on refresh and see if it will offer an update to Firefox.
Good luck!
Code: Select all
gksudo xed /etc/apt/preferences.d/official-package-repositories.pref
#
at the beginning of the first three lines, looking like:
Code: Select all
#Package: *
#Pin: origin live.linuxmint.com
#Pin-Priority: 750
Now run the Update Manager and click on refresh and see if it will offer an update to Firefox.
Good luck!
