Re: How to install sort plugin in xed?
Hi, rebelxt.
Have you inspected the list of available xed plugins inside xed? If I remember correctly the "sort" plugin is present, but not enabled by default. If my memory serves me right, then enabling it inside xed would be sufficient.
Regards,
Karl

linux Mint Mate 18.3; xed 1.6.3
Edit > Preferences > Plugins tab: There is no sort plugin listed.

Re: How to install sort plugin in xed?
...that's weird - Mint 18.3 Mate here, Xed 1.6.3.
Under Preferences - Plugins, there is no 'Sort' plug-in listed whatsoever.
However, under Edit menu, just above Preferences, there exists 'Sort lines F10'. So i assume this functionality it's built-in.
So, maybe try re-installing Xed?

Re: How to install sort plugin in xed?
Re-installing xed won't change anything, that's the default sort function. The problem is that it doesn't have any of the selectable options that the plugin has. So I would like to install the plugin, if anyone can tell me how. Please.
Re: How to install sort plugin in xed?
...when you say 'selectable options', do you by any chance mean "ignore case, reverse order, remove duplicates"?
If yes, those were removed quite some time ago...

Re: How to install sort plugin in xed?
I am pretty sure the Sort plugin in the link you provided is the builtin plugin. If I am reading the description correctly, it was designed to eliminate the (highly useful) dialog.
Convert to a builtin plugin and remove the use of the dialog. Sort can now be triggered from the edit menu or by the F10 hot key.
I am not in the mood for experimessing, but I think Xed stores plugins in /usr/share/xed/plugins

Re: How to install sort plugin in xed?
Thanks. It's not the answer I wanted, but it means that what I really wanted, to be able to specify a start column for the sort, would be a new feature for xed.thx-1138 wrote: ⤴Mon Jun 18, 2018 12:19 pm ...when you say 'selectable options', do you by any chance mean "ignore case, reverse order, remove duplicates"?
