Nemo freezes for 1-2s frequently, and without much of a pattern -- clicking on a folder, clicking to close the window -- really anything.
Edit: Not necessarily on a large directory, just in general.
I know that is vague, but is there a way I can better debug this?
Any other related issues that have been opened that I can consult?
Edit: I should add that I tried installing Thunar and doesn't have any freezing issues at all.

In Nemo press Alt-P or open the Edit menu and select plug-ins.
Initially disable them all and see if that fixes the issue. You can then re-enable them individually to identify which one is causing a problem.
I'd suspect

I'd suspect
ChangeColourFolder+NemoPython
, it's been implicated in the past with poor Nemo performance. For custom Nemo actions, useful scripts for the Cinnamon desktop, and Cinnamox themes visit my Github pages.

Yes, that was one thing I had found on the GitHub page and had already tried.
Unfortunately in my case disabling every plugin did not do anything to affect the behavior.
Is there anything else I can try?
Any way to debug?
EDIT:
One thing perhaps that is a clue?
When I run nemo --check I get this:
The first warning does not come up in another system I have running Cinnamon (albeit 18.3, whereas this is 19)

This is why I've gave up on Mint 19. Not only Nemo but most applications on my last two installs of 19 Cinnamon are doing this. I've tried the install without internet and I still get this lagging. It's almost like Mint 19 can't do multitasking but my CPU and Memory appears normal. I'm only using a USB Stick for installs but Mint 18.3 Cinnamon is fast on my other USB stick.

Re: Nemo constantly freezing in LM Cinnamon 19
In my case I am only seeing freezing in Nemo.
In other ways the desktop environment is quite snappy.
I do also see large spikes in CPU usage when Nemo freezes.

Re: Nemo constantly freezing in LM Cinnamon 19
Potentially - I don't have that error on my Mint 19 install. Unfortunately, I'm also not sure where to start to troubleshoot it....evencoil wrote: ⤴Sat Jul 14, 2018 8:33 am EDIT:

Re: Nemo constantly freezing in LM Cinnamon 19
I found that if I create a new user then I don't have this problem anymore.
So it's something to do with the user settings.
Any ideas???
