Begging for help on a copy and paste issue
My issue seems to have been addressed before but not answered to my exact satisfaction, or more importantly clarification. I am just an average Linux mint user and all I ask from my applications is that they just work. That said, as an author, I have witnessed a marvelous evolution to my word hasher of choice,(Libre) and indeed within the rest of my system as well. However, not to stray from my question because it is extremely important to me...the use of copy and paste. As I type out one or two paragraphs, I like to highlight it/them...copy it...and paste it to a grammar editor within my open browser to limit my errors as much as possible even before final editing. I can't afford the aggravation of a malfunction, redistributing sections of text to other parts of the paragraph, or simply the loss of time trying over and over until I complete the transfer. I have noted that Nemo is the file editor of choice, but don't know if it is responsible for my problem. I have read up on clipboard alternatives but am frightened to modify my system and risk breakage. Can somebody point me toward a path for rectification, or hand me a tidbit of knowledge that I can learn? I sometimes scream out in frustration. Jackie-N

Re: Begging for help on a copy and paste issue
What is the actual problem that you're experiencing? I can't really find it in your post.
If your issue is solved, kindly indicate that by editing the first post in the topic, and adding [SOLVED] to the title. Thanks!
Re: Begging for help on a copy and paste issue
nemo is actually a file browser.
As far as I can tell your problem has something to do with copy/paste text but can't tell what it is beyond that.but don't know if it is responsible for my problem.
In LibreOffice and (internet) browser, it's the same (I think) as everywhere else: Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V except in a terminal where it's Ctrl+Shift+C/V. Is that the problem?
Please edit your original post title to include [SOLVED] if/when it is solved!
Your data and OS are backed up....right?

Try this one click method.
Just highlighting the text automagically copies it to the clipboard
Clicking the scroll wheel automagically pastes to the target

Or the third/middle mouse button, if you don't have a scroll wheel.

Re: Begging for help on a copy and paste issue
It works for me as described to and from LibreOffice Writer, as well as text editors (including Xed) which should cover the bases regarding the op.AZgl1500 wrote: ⤴Sat Jul 14, 2018 9:12 pmTry this one click method.

It works for eBay, Youtube, Google translate, search engines, other forums, to and from a terminal, etc. I use this in both Cinnamon and MATE.

Re: Begging for help on a copy and paste issue
Interesting combination of results with that method,
I will continue trying it out, and if it starts working for me, that would be a time saver.
I have ALWAYS had trouble with Linux "not pasting" what I have told it to copy.
it will paste what was copied 2 or 4 or 16 times back before I try to copy something.
it is very aggravating for me.
that only method that I have found that is reliable, is to use the keyboard commands, never the mouse/menu copy/paste commands.
^C works every time, ^V works every time, and nothing else does, it is too random producing unpredictable results.

Or a three finger tap if you use a touchpad with this capability.

And, another option is install a clipboard manager.
I use Diodon and have it configured to save the last 50 things I've copied. Everything else can go away but Diodon is still there.
