mysql install fails - please help, noob here

Post by lksjflkjdflask »

Hi,
I've tried installing mysql from terminal: sudo apt-get install mysql-server as well as from Software Manager.

Software Manager install fails with this output:

Code: Select all

installArchives() failed: Selecting previously unselected package mysql-server.

what version of LinuxMint & Desktop Environment - are you using ?.

that Error, seems to state that the mysql installer is seeking a more recent version of the Linux System,
than the version that you are installing into . . ..

Hi,
I'm using the latest version. I managed to fix the error by running sudo apt-get purge %package_name% on each problematic package... reinstalling then worked 100%.
Thanks for your reply.
