If you are participating in the beta testing I understand the devs have requested bugs are reported via github - https://github.com/linuxmint/lmde-3-cinnamon-beta

Now, I have joined the Mint Community for real 
I turned this problem in to the Devs, and other folks also have the same problem.
The Devs replied, and fixed it!

I then brought up Update Manager, and wallah! both fixes are there, and it works now.
