upnp-inspector - browses UPNP/DLNA servers in LM18.3

Post by SuffolkPunch » Fri Aug 10, 2018 6:23 am

I have found a work-around for the lack of upnp/dlna browsing in LM 18 - see topic viewtopic.php?f=47&t=261712.

The workaround is a win32 executable 'UPnP-Inspector-0.2.2-1-setup.exe' stored on the coherence project's web site:
http://coherence-project.org/download/
and referenced by a link in the hummy.tv wiki:
https://wiki.hummy.tv/wiki/Download_Sta ... t_USB_Copy

I checked the executable for malware at
https://www.virustotal.com/#/home/upload
which reported that 2 out of 65 malware engines (Baidu and eGambit) detected anything awry:

File name UPnP-Inspector-0.2.2-1-setup.exe
File size 10.71 MB

I then checked at the hummy.tv forums to see if anyone had flagged upnp-inspector as a malware risk - and found none.
So I went ahead and installed the executable using 'Open with Wine Windows Program Loader'. Upnp-inspector installed without throwing any errors, and then appears under 'Menu > Wine'.

It runs fine, and lets me browse my home video servers and upload and stream videos from them using wget and a video's URL (as explained in the hummy.tv wiki link above).

Hope this helps others!
