[SOLVED] How do i change magnet link association?

Post by jomama »

Hi, y'all. Got a quick question: I'm on Linux Mint 19, where apparently the system default association for magnet links goes with the built-in torrent client, Transmission. I'd like to change that to qbittorrent, so that when I click on a magnet link in any browser it'd go straight to qbittorrent. I've done this in FF by changing the default file association within the browser, but I find FF is a huge drag on my system so I mostly use Opera, Vivaldi and Brave. So the question I have for you is how do I change the magnet link association in the OS from Transmission to qbittorent, or another client? Thanks for your help!

I figured it out! All I had to do was add this line to the defaults.list file: x-scheme-handler/magnet=qbittorrent.desktop;
Thank you!
