In the Linux Games Database is the game Unreal World, which is not in any repository that I know of, but is available as a .deb file. (It's also available as a binary in a tarball but that has the same basic problem.)
My OS is LM 19 with Mate 64-bit.
When I ran gdebi to install it, it messed with my libcurl4, replacing it with libcurl3 and also removing anything that needed libcurl4, such as scilab for example.
I don't really need to install this game system-wide on my PC. What I want is some kind of virtual environment, or sandbox, in some local folder where I can give it whatever dependencies it needs without messing with my other apps. I'm not so much concerned with security as I am with just getting some harmony going. Yes I realize security can be a major issue with Debian packages on LM.
Any clue would be welcome. TIA
