Archive Manager won't open ODT

Post by leehach » Fri Aug 17, 2018 6:21 pm

An ODT file is just a ZIP archive. Occasionally (usually to extract a whole lot of embedded images from a file) I need to open the archive.

In LM18, I used to right-click on the file and choose Open With → Archive Manager.

Now, when I do this it says Could not open "filename". Archive type not supported.

But if I rename the extension from ODT to ZIP, Archive Manager opens it normally.

Is there any way to recover the old behavior?

A file with the odt extension is an "office document text" file and LibreOffice will open it for you.

Right click on the odt file, then on Properties, Open With, select LibreOffice Writer and click on "Set as default".

If this is about MATE's engrampa, of which I know that it has this bug, then this has been fixed in the source already so you could build it directly from that or wait for the update to make its way to you:

If it's about another archive manager, no idea, it's not like you gave us much information. ;)

You could always try to install the packages from the old distribution.
