How to change XFCE to KDE?

Post by SuperSapien »

I'm not sure if this the right place to put this question, but here I go. I remember sometime before Linux Mint 19 came out there was talk about how to turn the XFCE environment to the KDE environment including the apps.
So how do you change XFCE to KDE? :?:
I know you'll continue to support KDE apps for the long term, So if anyone can help me please feel free to reply.

Best thing would be to back up your data, install kde fresh , then restore your data.
If I have helped you solve a problem, please add [SOLVED] to your first post title, it helps other users looking for help.

Hi,

as this is about Linux Mint 19, there is no way of installing Linux Mint 19 KDE directly from a live system, because there is no Linux Mint 19 KDE ISO image file. :(

Cheers,
Karl

Reason: removed a statement about a (non-existant) tutorial, which I had made, because my memory had served me wrong (booh)

That may be what you're referring to but it's for Mint 18.3, not 19.

So there's no script you can run to turn XFCE in KDE?
I found this viewtopic.php?p=1504306#p1504306 BTW.

Shouldn't it be just as simple as installing KDE from Synaptic? Then deleting Xfce?
