Post by usteveu » Sat Sep 08, 2018 1:32 pm

What version of Mint has Firefox 52.9?
Thanks.

Edit by me ... sorry, I think this was posted in the wrong forum. Should be in Software and Applications. yes? no?

Should have been, but you could just have deleted your thread here (now that I replied you cannot anymore) and posted in the other.

Anyway, the answer is none, browsers are being kept up to date in all releases (or mostly, the current version is 62 in Ubuntu's repos but the Mint repos are always lagging behind for such things and keep you stuck at 61 if you're using them).

What would you want an old and insecure version for? You might be able to find that specific version on Mozilla's server still. None of the repos have it.

I understand the need to keep an old browser. The new version of Firefox broke some of the most useful add ons. I detest not having the full suite of Tab-Mix Plus now but am having to live without it.
Kernel: 4.15.0-46-generic x86_64 bits
Desktop: Cinnamon 3.8.9
Distro: Linux Mint 19 Tara

Laptop HP-ProBook-470-G2 8Gb RAM SSD
Server AMD Phenom 9650 - GEForce 9400GT 6Gb RAM
+ three other Mint machines
Out of my mind - please leave a message

Have you tried Pale Moon?

I have been using for quite some time and find it stable. It also has its own catalogue of add-ons and there is one that checks compatibility with Firefox add-ons.

Just a thought. :?

And there's also Basilisk in addition to Pale Moon.

Thanks, folks.
I got it done. After I figured out what to do and how to do it it was quite simple. Just uninstall 60. Download 52 and install it. There were a couple of dependency errors. Just search for, download, and install them. I now have my tabs below and Tab Mix Plus.
I wish Mozilla would spend more time designing their tab functions. That "tabs on top" is a showstopper for me. I categorically refuse to use it. I can deal with security issues better than poor design issues.

You do know that Firefox 52.9 ESR is end of life, right?
