about a year ago I installed LM 18.2 Sonya (Cinnamon) on my moms lapotp. It worked flawlessly since then. For some time now the whole system freezes suddenly without any correlation between the systems load (RAM and or CPU usage) and or temperature.
No mouse and keyboard input is possible... I tried every shortcut described here without any success:
https://unix.stackexchange.com/question ... op-freezes
I tested the system on heavy load and high temperatures without any reproducibility. The freeze until now only occures when my mom uses the laptop to watch Tv shows or edit spreadsheets.
the only "fix" for the problem is to cut the power by holding down the power key... but this is as far as I'm aware a risky and unhealthy way to shutt down a computer.
I'm writing this post because I have no ideas left where I should start searching for the problems cause.
I was thinking maybe a bad Graphics card causing the issue but if so I should be able to perform the R E I S U B sequence right?
