software caused connection abort

Post by Paperlessociety »

I have several Synology NAS boxes running in a mixed environment on a gigabit LAN. The Synology boxes have latest firmware installed. The Linux machines connect to the NAS via smb://IP/share. The latest version of Mint 19 Mate and Ubuntu 18.04 LTS on multiple clients frequently display the error "software caused connection abort" while transferring files via gui, rsync or grsync, and the transfer speeds are incredibly slow compared to prior versions of the distributions.

Machines with prior versions of Mint 18.3 Mate or Ubuntu do not have this issue.

Question: Does anyone else have this issue?

Thank you

I have HP Compaq CQ61 laptop running 19 Cinnamon with two networked WD Mybooklive disks. Since I went to release 19 I have had this annoying problem which didn't happen before on version 18.
No ideas?

Update

With no real idea why, I went into the NAS control panel and turned off 'Allow FTP' in the Networking options.
I re-booted the device and set off a near 1 TB transfer of 990 photos to my laptop....... ZERO ERRORS!!!
