Chromium browser

Post by jeff37922 »

Is the Chromium web browser safe to use in Linux, unlike the Google Chrome one? If so, which browser is better overall - Chromium or Firefox?

I use Chromium all the time; works great. Can't comment on Firefox.

You don't have to limit yourself to just those two, there's also Waterfox, Basilisk, or Pale Moon. Also there's Iceweasel-UXP by the Hyperbola Project. But if I had to choose between Chromium or Firefox, I'd go with Firefox (although Firefox keeps getting more and more like Chromium/Chrome with every new release).

Chromium has been my main browser on all operating systems for years. Works great.

Yes I believe Chromium is safe to use in Linux, just remember that your browsing habits, practices & internet hangouts, affect how secure you want to be.
as for which browser is better, you will not get an "objective" answer to that question, it depends on what you; expect from a browser & what you prefer to have, Firefox target market always been "security & privacy" aware users, but its hard to see its advantages in these areas over Chromium, I mean; in both scenarios you will have to count on add-ons that are available in all shapes & colors on both sides, vulnerabilities are regularly patched in both browsers (i like to think so) but really, the user is the first line of defense when it comes to safety. my advice: try them both & make your own con/pro with your needs & priorities as the Judge.

That's simply a matter of opinion.
