Solved: Upgrade to T'bird 60.2.1 zaps Lightning Calender add-on
Earlier today, was running Thunderbird 51.9.1 in LM 18.3 (Cinnamon, 64-bit).
Then the update manager said an update to v 60.2.1 was available, so i applied it.
I relaunched T'bird 60.2.1 to find the Lightning add-on unavailable.
How do I get Lightning to work in 60.2.1?
Force roll-back to an earlier T'bird? Re-install LM OS from TimeShift backup?
Hope someone knows!

Not only that. I can't even send an email. The entire area where you key in the TO, CC, BCC addresses is blanked out and I can't even move the cursor into the body area to type anything. Someone really hosed up this update.

I downloaded and installed the latest beta release from the bottom of
https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/calendar/li ... andidates/
It appears to be working OK.

How does one roll back?

I can't get it to work with Provider for Google Calendar. Can you?reticulatus wrote: ⤴Mon Oct 15, 2018 3:55 pm I downloaded and installed the latest beta release from the bottom of

Yes. Thanks to reticulatus! The download link led me to lightning-6.2b6.en-GB.xpi which installed manually into T'Bird. Provider for Google Calendar then asked me to authenticate, which I did, and things are back to normal again. Fingers crossed!lannatwin wrote: ⤴Mon Oct 15, 2018 3:59 pmI can't get it to work with Provider for Google Calendar. Hmm, that is the one I installed too. Provider was a no go though.SuffolkPunch wrote: ⤴Mon Oct 15, 2018 4:21 pmYes. Thanks to reticulatus! As of now, Lightning is incompatible with 60.2.1SuffolkPunch wrote: ⤴Mon Oct 15, 2018 3:19 pm ...

That is the one I tried as well. Even before I install Provider, when click the Day, Week, Multiweek, or Month tabs, nothing happens. lightning-6.2b6.en-US is not working right for me.SuffolkPunch wrote: ⤴Mon Oct 15, 2018 4:32 pmI'm using v 4.4.2 of 'Provider for Google Calendar' if that helps.

Fix please - Upgrade to T'bird 60.2.1 zaps Calender
Same problem on Mint 18.3 cinnamon - Thunderbird 60.2.1 appeared as default install in "Update Manager" and after applying this (which had to come from an official repo) I have no calender tab and nothing I've tried has worked to restore calender access. The upgrade was from whatever version was available from Mint update manager, I think 52.9...
I see that synaptic has a calender extension identified as not installed "xul-ext-lightning" - Should this be installed? I don't use "google" calender.
I have a lot of important info in the calender and really really don't wish to loose it. May we get and official "fix" for this as I can't interpret the various postings

Did you try lightning-6.2b6?mint_julep-forums wrote: ⤴Mon Oct 15, 2018 4:50 pm Same problem on Mint 18.3 cinnamon - Thunderbird 60.2.1 appeared as default install in "Update Manager" and after applying this (which had to come from an official repo) I have no calender tab and nothing I've tried has worked to restore calender access. Re: Upgrade to T'bird 60.2.1 zaps Lightning Calender add-on
With Synaptic I was able to get back to TB 38.6. Everything is working again. Not sure how to go from 38.6 to 52.9. Anyone?

Re: Upgrade to T'bird 60.2.1 zaps Lightning Calender add-on
I haven't tried any separate install of Lightning - when I open Thunderbird, select Tools>add-ons and search calender, Lightening appears with a prominent notice that Lightening is "not compatible" with my version listed as 1:60.2.1+build1...16.04.4
My previous version is listed in the update history as 1:52.9.1+build3+...16.04.1
Any suggestions on how I can back down to 52.9.1 ?? Seems like it should be simple but I am rushed and this is becoming a serious impediment

Why don't you try lightning-6.2b6 first? It is obviously working for some people.mint_julep-forums wrote: ⤴Mon Oct 15, 2018 5:21 pm I haven't tried any separate install of Lightning - when I open Thunderbird, select Tools>add-ons and search calender, Lightening appears with a prominent notice that Lightening is "not compatible" with my version listed as 1:60.2.1+build1...16.04.4

In Synaptic, highlight Thunderbird (version 60), then on the Package menu, choose Force version... You should be able to select 52.9 version

Fixed {for me}Re: Upgrade to T'bird 60.2.1 zaps Lightning Calender add-on
I installed the lightning extension from synaptic "xul-ext-lightning" and now I get calender and task buttons on the opening Thunderbird screen, and it appears to be functioning OK, displayed as version 60.2.1.

Re: Upgrade to T'bird 60.2.1 zaps Lightning Calender add-on
As Mint uses the Ubuntu repos you can install lightning add-on from there; the package you need is xul-ext-lightning which is working fine with my TBird 60.2.1 in Xubuntu 16.04 and 18.04.
There have been no problems with this add-on for a very long time; I have not used the lightning add-on from the thunderbird site for a very long time now.
Worth a try I think.
