Highlighting in Evolution

Post by barbours » Wed Nov 14, 2018 12:43 am

I am using linux mint 19, new install, with evolution 3.30 flatpak connected to imap servers. The problem I am having is that when in evolution and I try to highlight some bit of text, it does work. I can highlight and copy every where else as would normally be expected. However, when I click begin to highlight, the highlight is started, but then drops off as I drag. It won't highlight using the keyboard either. Again, the highlight starts and as you move along the text, it drops the highlight.

Does anybody have a thought on what this might be?

Why are you using 3.30 in a flatpak when 3.28 is the version available in the repos and for me works fine?

My thought was that it was 3.30 flatpak over 3.28. 3.30 flatpak is available in the repository as well.
I will roll back to 3.28 and see if that fixes it.

Problem with flatpak is that it installs in isolation, so (without some work) it can't communicate with the rest of the system, e.g. saving attachments, sounds like cut and paste as well. Because it installs all the dependencies, it consumes more disk space.

The version from the repos - not cutting edge/latest version, but will behave like any other installed application, so should have no problems cutting and pasting from/to evolution into anything else.

v3.28 very easy to install - do it from software manager.
