Display issues since 4.15.0-38 (was: Mullvad: display issue)

Hi!
I installed Mullvad vpn on Mint 18, which works great, but generated big display issues:

-when I suspend, I have a black screen on resume, I have to hard-reboot. Actually, the screen is off, completely dark.
-when I boot, I stay on black screen after login. I see the mouse cursor, but nothing happens. Then I can 'reboot' in a terminal with ctrl+alt+F1.

I spend some time to identify that Mullvad was guilty, and since I uninstall it, I have no more problems...
any chance to solve the problem in Mint or do I have to complain to Mulllvad?

uh oh,
surprise this morning: after one week without Mullvad and without problem, a experienced black screen on wake up again...
May Mullvad has broken something? Another issue?
I tried again and reproduced the bug, that's what I get in syslog on sleep request. (nothing on black screen until hard reboot):

Ok, I downgraded kernel until 4.15.0-34, and the issue disappeared. I re-installed Mullvad, everything ok.
Any Idea?
