Pulseaudio-dlna chromecast

I have a problem.
Several days ago I tried to stream from Clementine to my chromecast. It wasn't even recognised by pulseaudio.
Yesterday I did the same and it worked.
Today it was not recognised again.

Now I know this is not the chromecast as it works from the Chrome browser.
I also know it is not the chromecast that is at issue because it will not connect to another streaming device I have.

I am also able to stream to the chromecast from my android tablet.

So how do I go about finding out why I can not get pulseaudio to find the chromecast - sometimes?

I have zero experience with pulseaudio-dlna as well as Chromecast, but I have a couple of guesses about your issue.

1. Do you run a firewall and if so, have your opened the correct ports for this to work?

2. More likely, have you used something like pavucontrol to move the stream to the Chromecast?

The answer to question 1 would be - It works when not using pulseaudio-dlna. And has worked on the odd occasion - so this is not the problem
However question 2's answer is yes - can you expand on this?

I just read your post and the good replies to it. Here are my thoughts on this as well.

It would help to know more about your system setup. If you run "inxi -Fxzd" and "lsusb" from the console terminal prompt, highlight the results, copy and paste them back here, that should provide enough information.

You do need add a firewall port to allow incoming and outgoing on whatever port you use in pulseaudio-dlna.

I like the pulseaudio-dlna app, but it is finicky sometimes. If you manually switch a song, it will sometimes change the sound device requiring the user to change it back.

If you want to stream music, videos, or pictures, why not use a multimedia server like UMS (ultimate media server)?

I do not see anything that would interfere with "pulseaudio-dlna" or other DLNA/UPnP options. Perhaps checking to make sure your WiFi adapter in the laptop is not going to "sleep", going into "power saving" mode. Check your power settings, run "iwconfig", and the link below.
