[Solved] how to auto-close VM when Vbox closes

Post by Captain Brillo » Mon Dec 03, 2018 11:10 am

How do I get a Guest VM to shutdown when the VPN connection breaks?
I believe this command would do it, but I don't know where/how to use it here.

Code: Select all

VBoxManage controlvm "slackware" savestate
I'm using a kill-switch, "VPN Lifeguard" which would do the job for me if I knew how to make the VM shut down if Vbox itself shuts down. I can add Vbox to the switch's list, and it will close if the VPN breaks, but I'm at a loss as to getting the guest to then auto-shutdown..

Every time I bork the Linux box, I learn something new - what a blast!
If it ain't broke, fix it anyway! Ha Ha!

Turned out to be a glitch in the installation of Vbox.
Exported machine, removed/purged/re-installed Vbox, imported machine, all good.
