Can't timeshift recognize a veracrypt drive?

Post by fernandocabral »

I have an external veracrypt drive. I use timeshift to backup my system files (Tara).
Nevertheless, no matter what I do, timeshift can't find and use a mounted veracrypt file system (EXT4) at /media/veracrypt1.
Is there any workaround so I can backup my system directly to an encrypted external drive?

Thanks for any ideas.

No - veracrypt mounts an encrypted file as a folder, whereas timeshift is looking for a linux format, e.g. ext 4, partition. I think in reality your veracrypt drive is an ext4 formatted partition with a single very big encrypted file on it.

Veracrypt has 2 modes:
1) It is just a big file that decrypts into a container
2) It can encrypt a drive (never done before)

Then it can select about 8 different partition types.

Would almost need to know which mode he used.

Didn't know it could encrypt a drive, don't use it that way :)
