Document Viewer
I just updated to Linux Mint 19 and was able to view all of my PDF files, however, after an update in the last 3-5 days, I can no longer open them with Document Viewer, nor any of the recommended apps in the Software manager (they quit before opening the file). The majority of the previews of each file has disappeared. I would be grateful if I can get help to resolve this issue.

Re: Document Viewer
Can you go back using Timeshift?
Re: Document Viewer
Hi, I have experienced the same problem after installing Mint 18.3. Right after installation the pfd document viewer that comes with the installation works fine on existing pdf files. But when I make a new pdf and try to open it afterwards, it takes 30 seconds or so and nothing is visible. Even pdf's I could open before are not visible. Perhaps a bug?
I installed Evince Document viewer instead and set it as default for opening pdf's and it works as expected.

Re: Document Viewer
I have this very same problem. In my file manager I have icon view selected. The icons for older pdfs show a preview. Newer pdf show a Adobe icon.
Document viewer will not open the pdf. I have to use another pdf reader. This is a bug of some sort. I checked file permissions, as it should be.
Something with flash?
(EDIT) Just checked my update history. Poppler-utils got updated from 0.41.0-0ubuntu1.8 to 0.41.0-0ubuntu1.9 to 0.41.0-0ubuntu1.10
Time to start using TimeShift or go back to 1.8

Re: Document Viewer
I have been working on this problem for a few days. I think I may have found something, but would like a second opinion.
I am running Mint 18.3 Cinnamon. I also updated firejail to Version - firejail-0.9.56-LTS_1_amd64.deb. I think firejail maybe the cause of this problem. From the terminal:
In the file xreader.profile is the line: #Breaks xreader in Mint 18.3
#include /etc/firejail/whitelist-var-common.inc
To the point- Do I delete the # in the second line above or do I delete the LTS version of firejail and go to an previous version? Thanks for reading.

Re: Document Viewer
Temporary fix - Completely delete firejail. Worked for me
