[SOLVED] Unable to use ndisgtk with Linuxmint 19 Cinnamon

Post by kayeng »

Hello friends

My desktop computer:
Kernel: 4.15.0-20-generic x86_64 bits: 64
Desktop: Cinnamon 3.8.8 Distro: Linux Mint 19 Tara

Please see attached pic.

I believe the driver for the USB wifi adapter can be found here:
https://www.techspot.com/drivers/driver ... ion/15971/

I had no trouble installing the USB wifi adapter when I was using Linuxmint 18 32-bit.

Any solutions?

I have not tried any of the solutions found here:
https://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index. ... 05830.html

Thank you very much.

That driver hasn't been updated since 2011. Recent Linux distros have been dropping old hardware support like mnad lately. This is the Linux kernel project doing this, not Mint, but it affects Mint or any other distro using kernels that new. I'm not surprised here.

It's a good thing that you didn't try any of those ideas from that ubuntuforums thread, they're almost as old as that driver. You can't expecct old solutions to work on new releases and you might have really broken something.

Solution? IMO, buy a newer USB wireless dongle that works with Linux.
