Flash Content Not Playing in FireFox or Chromium

Post by javasOK »

I can't get Flash to play from this URL: https://www.nbcsports.com/live

When I try with FireFox I get an error "Recent versions of Firefox do not support Adobe Flash with authenticated video streams. Please use an alternative browser."

When I try with Chromium I get no error messages but the display area remains black after the "Initializing" message and blue Flash spinner goes away. I've updated everything using the Update Manager so think I have the latest versions of everything.

Help appreciated

Via Terminal

Code: Select all

apt-cache policy mint-meta-codecs

Code: Select all

apt install mint-meta-codecs
PS. Enable DRM contents in Firefox.

Hi administrollaattori,

thanks for responding!

I tried running the apt scripts and got this:

javasok@saturn ~ $ apt-cache policy mint-meta-codecs
mint-meta-codecs:
Installed: 2017.06.25
Candidate: 2017.06.25
Version table:
*** 2017.06.25 500
500 http://packages.linuxmint.com sylvia/main amd64 Packages
500 http://packages.linuxmint.com sylvia/main i386 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
javasok@saturn ~ $ apt install mint-meta-codecs
Swipe your finger across the fingerprint reader
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
mint-meta-codecs is already the newest version (2017.06.25).

I checked in FireFox Settings and confirmed the DRM checkbox is checked. I'm still getting the "Recent versions of Firefox do not support Adobe Flash with authenticated video streams. Please use an alternative browser." message. The NBC stream I'm trying to watch does require a login/subscription so it makes sense the stream is authenticated. Flash is working OK on the Adobe Flash Help page (https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html).

Not sure what else I can try?
