Korean language in browser does not work

Post by buscon »

hi all,

I have linux mint 19 installation with mate and I want to switch my keyboard layout between 3 languages: English, German and Korean.
I installed ibus and everything works fine in all the applications I tested, except in a browser: for some mysterious reasons, when I switch language in Firefox or in Chromium, the effect of the change happens only for English and German, when I switch to Korean the result is always the one of an English layout.

Does anyone know why?
This makes really no sense to me. Switching language is mostly needed in a browser for me, so this does really affect the overall usage.

thanks

안녕하세요 - both IBus and Fcitx input methods work fine with browsers, I just tried. Thus I don't have an answer for you, but maybe switch to Fcitx and see if it makes a difference.

thanks for your answer!

I tried out to stop Ibus and restart it: then it works in the browser too!

So it seems like Ibus is starting probably too early or something like that?

Hard to say. How did you install it? I had tried via Mint menu > Input method and it all worked flawlessly.
