TeamViewer Not Working

Post by MichaelJohn »

Hi!

Well after nearly seven months away (over eight hours open heart surgery - hereditary issue) I am beck. Although I did few things from home two machines here had not been turned on since I switched them off on June 1. Anyway there were a lot of updates to catch up on - a Windowz desktop and my main workhorse a Mint 17.3 Rosa 64-bit laptop. I no have two issues that I will deal with separately as they appear unconnected! While I have been away TeamViewer has gone from Version 13 to 14. Whilst it upgraded fine on Windowz there is an issue under Mint. When I start it up an icon appears on the (bottom) toolbar. However, I get no response to Show TeamViewer or Show Computers and Contacts - in fact all I can do is Exit!

Any ides or thoughts?

Thanks and regards, MichaelJohn

it would be far easier to simply UN-install the older version of TV,
- use package manager AKA synaptic - to do that.
& then re-install the New Version of T.V from their site:
https://www.teamviewer.com/en/download/linux/
and see how your machine, is handling that version.

There was still-an issue which seemed related to MySQL in some way. When I had sorted the MySQL issues (another post) I could install Teamviewer13 but not 14! TeamViewer13 is not offering the upgrade but if I remove it completely and try installing 14 I get:-

Error:dependency is not satisfied
libqt5gui5|
qt56-
teamviewer

Whilst the package manager shows libqt5gui5 there is nothing with qt56 in it. Puzzling...

Will research more when I get the time!

well - I've always found that TV is an 'stand-alone program'
- that seems to supply it's own support files.
so - in my experience - there has been No Errors as such.

now, last year, when I'd installed LM19 over LM17x, I'd did an error:
- installing the 32 bit version of TV onto LM19/64bit & then did discover an whole pile of dependencies,
that were needed to install the 32bit version of T.V. .. ..

but, it still did work, in the end, after all of that lot.
& that was for TV13 - - which then did auto-update to TV14. ..
- just fine. .. 32bit, of course.

did you use the 'completely remove' option in synaptic - to remove the old version of TV ?.
