From the initramfs-tools property pane in Synaptic package manager:
This package builds a bootable initramfs for Linux kernel packages. The
initramfs is loaded along with the kernel and is responsible for
mounting the root filesystem and starting the main init system.
What has been changed in the most recent update of initramfs-tools, again from the property page of Synaptic, button "Changelog":
initramfs-tools (0.122ubuntu8.14) xenial-security; urgency=medium

* scripts/functions: include a new option to skip enslaved network
devices. (LP: #1802591)
Include the new variable NETWORK_SKIP_ENSLAVED. When set to a
value different than "0", this variable will cause any enslaved
network devices to be skipped from the list of netbootable
devices. This variable can be set via the configuration files
under /etc/initramfs-tools/ or via any configuration file under
the initrd directory /conf/conf.d/ via a hook script.

The changelog information is available inside Update Manager, too, when it offers the updated initramfs-tools for installation. Once the update has been applied, Update Manager will not be able to display the changelogs any longer.
This is why I use Synaptic package manager in order to inspect the changelogs.

Thank You.

I also found out that initramfs-tools is causing the missing firmware issue. (possible missing firmware /lib/firmware/i915/)

.122ubuntu8.13 this version is the one that doesn't have the missing firmware notice.

I am not an expert maybe someone needs to find out why .122ubuntu8.14 that has the missing firmware issue. and report it to proper place. I know there is fix by download, copying files and putting it in a certain location but I really don't know how secure that is. In Linux mint xfce 18.3 you have to copy it to a different directory.

I suppose you'll find this addition to Update Manager's history view useful then:

Maybe for 19.2. ;)
