Oolite

Post by rvsjimbo » Mon Jan 14, 2019 12:23 am

Hello,

I have recently setup Linux Mint 19.1 on a new laptop (Lenovo Thinkpad P52) and I can't seem to find Oolite in the official repositories... Has it really been dropped, or is there something wrong in my sources files or something else?

Thanks!

Paul.

I don't see it in Mint 19 either. I suppose you can download it directly from Oolite.

Old favourite off mine. Haven't fired it up for a few years - might be time to revisit.

As far as I know it's never been in an official repo.

I'm mistaken it was and isn't now - https://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=oolite

You may be better off with the official download already linked at oolite.org anyway.
At one time some of the dependencies were specifically modified to work with oolite, so maintainers who didn't realize this would sometimes compile it with generic deps I have seen this cause minor gameplay issues for some users.

Hi All,

Thanks for all the replies - good I'm not the only one that likes it... Do wonder why it went away. Anyway, I shall get it from the official site... And keep praying for an official Linux version of Elite Dangerous :-)

Cheers!

Paul.
