Can't place audio in timeline Kdenlive

Hello,
I have a music track that I want to insert in the timeline of a video.
When I listen in the preview clip monitor, it plays fine, but when I drag it to a track in the timeline it don't want to place the audio file. The tracks are unlocked and I've tried MP3, wav and flac format.
The strange thing is that it worked in the past.
When I try with other music tracks, it works.
Does anyone have advice for me?

The only thing I can think of is properties that are incomparable with the project settings. Try Right-Clicking on the audio file in the project bin, and select Extract Audio - Wav. See if the new wav file works.

I just read your post and the good replies to it. Here are my thoughts on this as well.

Edited: Assuming there is nothing wrong with the audio file, click an audio track timeline below on the left to highlight it, then click an audio file in the "project bin", then click "v" to add a clip to the audio timeline. You can do the same thing with videos and video timelines as well. Repeating the procedure will add subsequent audio and or video clips to the existing ones on those timelines. You can also click a timeline then highlight more than one file in the project bin and then click "v" to add more than one clip to a timeline at a time.

Normally, you could click and hold (drag-n-drop (DND)) an audio or video clip from the project bin or the clip monitor to an audio or video timeline. But, I have noticed when doing this that if you try to DND to the far left it might not work properly, so try a little to the right of the far left, then move it (click and hold) to the left.

If you are still having a problem adding a video or audio clip to Kdenlive, and depending upon how an audio or video clip was created (video and or audio codecs), you may have to convert it to another format first like from "mp3" to "wav", etc... then retry adding the clip. You can use SoundKonverter, Soundconverter, or a multimedia converter "WinFF-GTK", "FF Multi Converter", Curlew, etc...

I think it's the music file itself.
I believe it was one that I bought on iTunes - but not sure - when I purchased music on my Mac.
There was a copyright system (DRM?) for a while and then they changed something or removed it again, but at a certain point Apple sold music with a strict copy protection system. I'm not sure if this is the case, but it's for this music file only.
As a test, I made a screen capture during the song playing and after that I converted it with VLC so I kept a new audio file, but still no succes.

I can place it here on the forum, but is placing copyright protected music allowed?

Problem solved.
Chances are high that it was the copyright indeed, because now I made an screen capture of the same song on Youtube (Money - Pink Floyd) and then converted it to an audio file (MP3) and then I just can place it in Kdenlive like it should be.

FYI: Since you purchased the music, you should be able to play it. From what I just read it has been 10+ years since Apple used DRM on their music and or videos?

I have that song. I ripped the Dark side of the moon CD many years ago. I generally only use "Royalty Free" sound tracks in my video projects though.

It's only a personal video for myself. Not for Youtube or other sharing platforms.
In that case I would make my own music
