Linssid

Post by AndyMH »

Had linssid installed under 18.3 (and probably before that in 17.3), don't use it much but installed it when I upgraded 18.3 -> 19.0. Just tried it - nothing, absolutely nothing. No display on screen, checked running processes - nothing. Uninstalled and re-installed no change. And yes, I am connected wirelessly.

Running 19.0 with cinnamon.

Any ideas?

I just had the same issue while creating a fresh install of Mint 18.3.
I found it would run using sudo linssid It had always worked for me prior to this not requiring sudo. I created a desktop launcher using that as the command line.

Hi AndyMH, & Anyone Else Interested,

Because of updated security in Linux Mint 19.x, there is a new command "linssid-pkexec"

When I added the PPA and updated linssid it also updated my shortcuts to work with "linssid-pkexec".

There are newer Linux installation deb files as well in the link below

Hope this helps ...

Thanks, just had a quick look in SPM on this laptop (hardwired - no wireless) and there is no linssid-pkexec installed, just linssid. The version from the repositories is 2.9-3 whereas the version in the link you posted is 3.6-1. Looks like another application where the advice is don't install from sw manager, install from ppa instead.

I'll have a play on my wireless laptop later.

See if you need to edit the command line in the launcher to readlinssid-pkexec.
