Firefox 65.0 update--recheck your preferences
When you update FF to 65.0 recheck your preferences, particularly Privacy and Security.
I found many attributes reset to FF defaults--including telemetry settings.

Re: Firefox 65.0 update--recheck your preferences
Hello, all41.
From which Firefox version did you update to Firefox 65.0?
Here on Mint 18.1 64-bit Cinnamon, no settings have been reverted to default when updating from Firefox 64.0.2 to Firefox 65.0.
Just verified so, specifically for privacy and Security, before replying to your post (after one week
)
Regards,
Karl

Firefox has Never, Ever, changed my preferences.
Re: Firefox 65.0 update--recheck your preferences
few days ago finally allowed a portable version to finally update from 56.02 to 65 and the first thing i checked were the privacy settings and other than a couple of new items my personal settings were all as i had had them. one note the installed version that comes in mint both when i was running mint in dual booth with 10 and now installed on the drive by itself i had to uninstall cause no matter what i did to make chrome the default browser firefox would become the default again. thought the first time was a fluke, but it happening a second time tells me i'm probably not the only one who has had that issue.
Re: Firefox 65.0 update--recheck your preferences
It's been a while---as I recall the gui Preference settings were changed to allow Firefox Data Collection, and the Permissions to block Location requests was changed to allow. I keep FF updated using UM so whatever repository version was previous to 65.0 was what I had been using. The custom settings in about:config do not seem to be affected.karlchen wrote: ⤴Sun Feb 10, 2019 7:35 amHello, all41.

The only thing that keeps changing after each update of my Firefox, is the default search provider. I set that to Startpage.com, but after each update it's back to bloody Yahoo.

yea i noticed that it gets changed to YakPoo! as well. it does that even if you have removed it and the other search engines you don't use.
Re: Firefox 65.0 update--recheck your preferences
Yep--I forgot about that one. MrGrimm is correct-because I remove all engines but SP and DDG

Re: Firefox 65.0 update--recheck your preferences
I'm not even having that problem.
I have FF installed direct from Mozilla and it updates every few days w/o me worrying about it.
the Home page has never changed, the search page has never changed,
the only "problem" I have with it is on my Win7 PC where my daily use is as a "lowly grunt" who is stupid and not allowed access to Admin rights....
FF keeps asking me to download their new version.... which I refuse to do for a week or two, and then I update it... but, the Win7 PC only gets used maybe once a week or three anyway.
It just idles along until I need to do my taxes ( TurboTax ) or something else like reprogram my WiFi printers this morning because I bought a new WiFi router. Wish the printer manufacturers would recognize Linux as a computer language.

Re: Firefox 65.0 update--recheck your preferences
depends on the printer model. my canon mg5700 installed right out of the gate with out any issues. it's wifi.
