Pidgin Slow to Respond

Post by buddylee415 » Wed Jul 15, 2009 10:13 pm

When I return to my desktop from locking my desktop, Pidgin always seems to be slow to respond, but all other applications seem fine.

For example, in the system tray, Pidgin seems to be missing (icon not showing), but a space is left for the application. After approximately 1 minute the application icon will return. This happens even if all accounts are disabled within Pidgin.

I also notice a similar lag when using PIdgin at various times. The basic applications I have does not change throughout the day (firefox and banshee) so I don't see it being a memory issue. Also it only seems to affect Pidgin.

Has anyone else faced this issue on Linux Mint? I haven't had this issue prior with Pidgin on Windows or Mandriva. Any advice would be helpful.

Replicate the scenario then open a terminal and type:

"ps aux | grep pidgin"

and show us the output.

Then run "top" and check that pidgin is not consuming too much RAM or CPU...if so get back to us with the details.
