Problem with copying files from HDD to SSD (Mint 18.3 and 19.1)

Post by Valsodar »

Consider this topic a bug report.

There's something wrong with these two versions of Mint but unfortunately IDK enough about linux to identify the cause of the problem.

A large file - Taxi (1998).mkv with size 3.4 GB copied from HDD (WD Blue) to SSD (Corsair 120 LE):
• Windows 7 - 1 minute 12 seconds.
• Mint 18.3 and 19 - 2 minutes 56 seconds.
• Arch Linux - 16 seconds. When Arch took only 16 seconds to copy the file, I thought the process failed, so I ran the movie and the whole thing was there, perfectly watchable, down to the last second of it.

I thought this problem was caused by the file system (ext4) but since Arch is also on ext4, apparently the problem is somewhere else in Mint.
AsRock B85M Pro4, Core i3-4170, Palit GTX 1050 Ti 4GB, Corsair CX750 PSU, Corsair 32GB DDR3-1600, Corsair Force LE 120GB, WD Caviar Blue + Green = 1.5TB, Firefox 65+ x64, 5.0.13-arch1-1-ARCH Cinnamon

This isn't a place to file bug reports.
If I have helped you solve a problem, please add [SOLVED] to your first post title, it helps other users looking for help, and keeps the forum clean.

Deepak

I am using Mint 19.3 Cinnamon 64 bit with AMD A8/7410 processor . Memory 8GB

Ok. It's a bug report.

As these are support forums, not developer forums, perhaps you might try posting on the Linux Mint GitHub pages.
