Wine won't antialias fonts when Cinnamon is set to Grayscale antialiasing

Post by vittopascu » Mon Jun 10, 2019 8:37 pm

Dear all,

I am experiencing a problem: I am using Linux Mint 19.1 CInnamon in conjunction with wine 4.0 stable (and also tested with wine staging 4.9). Wine works fine as long as I keep the default Cinnamon antialiasing setting to RGB. However, if I switch to grayscale in Cinnamon, wine will produce terrible quality anti-aliasing on nearly all fonts. In fact, I can see that some anti-aliasing is attempted, but it is equivalent if not worse to disabling the antialiasing alltogether in wine.

I even tried to switch wine to grayscale antialiasing with no effect.

Anyone has any idea on how to solve the issue? Thank you very much :)
