[SOLVED] This week's LibreOffice update made its menus transparent

Post by FuLl »

This is what all the LibreOffice menus look like now. I think it was yesterday or the day before I saw it get updated.

I'm on Linux Mint 16.4 & LibreOffice is version 1:6.2.5

I looked through the 'Options' in 'Writer' but didn't find anything that changed it.

Could you, please, verify your Linux Mint version. There is no version 16.4. Please, execute the terminal command inxi -Sxxx and post its screen output.

So far, I have not come across transparent menus in Libre Office. But LO 5.1.6~rc2-0ubuntu1~xenial8 on Ubuntu 16.04.6 here, though updated only today, will be irrelevant with respect to what you see in Libre Office 6.2.5.
So far, I have not come across transparent menus in Libre Office 6.0.7-0ubuntu0.18.04.8 on Linux Mint 19.1 (base Ubuntu 18.04), either, updated only today. Again this may be irrelevant with respect to what you see on Libre Office 6.2.5.
(Where did you get LO 6.2.5 from, if I may be curious. LM 19.x brings along LO 6.0.7)

Regards,
Karl

Reason: added paragraph on LO 6.0.7 on LM 19.1

Looking at the screenshot it doesn't even come close to the Mint theming, so I guess you installed some exotic theme and that now breaks the LibreOffice menu's.

Oops, sorry. I'm on Linux Mint 18.3, which is Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. I got them mixed up when I posted that.

My DE is KDE, & it has a theme with a transparent panel & panel-related menus are transparent as well. Apparently now whatever property governs them affects LibreOffice's menus as of the recent update.

Ideally I'd like to keep my KDE transparency, without it affecting LibreOffice.

Issue was resolved by uninstalling:
libreoffice-kde4
And replacing it with:
libreoffice-gtk3
