Hi, I would like to install wget on my Linux Mint 19.1 but I can't. I try following the instructions on https://www.gnu.org/software/wget/faq.html#download which is

Code: Select all

$ gunzip < wget-1.12.tar.gz | tar -xv
$ cd wget-1.12
$ ./configure
$ make
# make install
on the ./configure appears:

Code: Select all

configure: configuring for GNU Wget 1.20.3
checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
checking whether build environment is sane... yes
checking for a thread-safe mkdir -p... /bin/mkdir -p
checking for gawk... gawk
checking whether make sets $(MAKE)... yes
checking whether make supports nested variables... yes
checking build system type... x86_64-pc-linux-gnu
checking host system type... x86_64-pc-linux-gnu
checking whether make supports nested variables... (cached) yes
checking whether make supports the include directive... yes (GNU style)
checking for gcc... gcc
checking whether the C compiler works... no
configure: error: in `/home/albert/wget-1.20.3':
configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables
See `config.log' for more details
I'm not an expert and I have no idea of compiling. Anybody can help me to install?

No need to compile anything: sudo apt install wget
