Disable Nemo Expandable Folders

Post by SkylerMews »

Hey there! I'm currently stumped as how to do this, but I would like to be able to disable the "dropdown" icon next to each folder in Nemo File Manager. I've searched high and low and haven't found a single thing about it. The tree is nice and all, but I prefer to just double-click my folders. So I'd like to remove the icon itself from the left of the folder.

Re: Nemo File Manager folder tree

I know the base Nautilis has the option for it. How could the same be done for Nemo? I'd like to be able to remove expandable folders ...

I am a bit puzzled by what you mean by "dropdown" menu, but if you wish to alter Nemo settings then Open Nemo. Select Edit. Select Preferences. And in the submenu of View and Display many options are available on what is shown and HOW it is shown when you open a folder in Nemo.

When I mean "dropdown" I'm talking about how when you're viewing a directory, all folders in that directory have a little arrow next to them that allows you to expand that folder and have a tree list of the folders and items inside it.

Ok I understand.

If you select Compact View in the top right corner of any Nemo window, then those dropdown menus will disappear.

You can choose to always use Compact View in every folder by selecting:
Nemo / Edit / Preferences / Views and then select: "View new folders using": Compact View.

Unfortunately, the Compact View isn't really what I'm looking for. It may not have the expandable folders, but the list style isn't what I'm looking for. I'd like to be able to keep using List View and have the expandable folders disabled.

Well, that is a pretty specific request which I hope you will find a solution for, but the Compact View method is the best option I can think of. Perhaps someone else has a tweak that will help you out.
