Systemd update fails

Post by vimes666 » Tue Sep 10, 2019 10:35 am

Hi, I just updated my mint 19.2 mate installation.

First I was prompted for an update of the update manager, which I did.
Next I got the familiar window with a list of a few updates, amongst them one for the kernel and one for systemd.
During the update I was prompted with a window notifying me that one component failed. I continued the rest of the installation.
At the end the error list showed it was not finding the libraries for the systemd update.
After rebooting to activate the new kernel, the systemd update was still there and this time executed without problems.

So in the end all is well, but I think the way it works can be a bit confusing.
I suspect that the systemd update is dependent on the new kernel that is not active yet. Or it was just a glitch.
Hope this helps anyone facing the same issue.

-edit- this issue viewtopic.php?f=90&t=301498 can also be the cause, but I always assumed that an update of the update manager also implied a refresh of the update list..
