Can't remove signal

Post by mtnmankev » Wed Sep 11, 2019 8:56 pm

LM19.2 64 bit,fresh install.
I thought signal would be a viable chat program to use, but it didn't turn out that way, so I uninstalled it.
Then it STILL shows up in all applications, even tries to update.
How do I remove all traces of signal?
Thanks !!

did you use Package Manager aka synaptic - to remove that program ?

or, did you use the Terminal, to try and remove that program ?.

the thing is, that Linux is not Windows, & you don't have to remove un-wanted programs,
- - even those that you've installed yourself .. they don't do any harm, if they do remain installed.

I used the drop down from in the start menu/applications and clicked uninstall.
It may not do any harm, but if it takes up any harddrive space at all, I want that space open for future use.

You can try:

Code: Select all

 sudo apt autoremove
If that doesn't do it , maybe:

Code: Select all

 sudo apt purge --auto-remove packagename
Add package name where it says.
