Post by sadhu » Thu Sep 12, 2019 7:45 am

the 19.2 GUI is awful.

Can I run the version from LM 18.3?

Hi, sadhu.

Though I agree with your point of view that the dconf-editor GUI on Ubuntu 18.04 (Mint 19.x) is definitely a change for the worse compared to the dconf-editor on Ubuntu 16.04 (Mint 18.x), I would advise against trying to pull in the old dconf-editor package on Mint 19.x.
You might run into dependency problems. There might also be technical changes under the hood (ugly interface), which might cause the old dconf-editor to handle things incorrectly on Mint 19.x.

Regards,
Karl

thanks, Karl.

The best way to run 18.3's version of anything is to boot in 18.3, which I can do because I have different releases in different partitions.

About the only thing I like better about LM19.2 is that it boots faster. All the other changes are annoying but I've been gritting my teeth and pressing on.
