[ Solved ] Create a launcher with a wine parameter

Post by artik » Fri Oct 04, 2019 6:30 am

I'm trying to create a launcher using wine64. The actual one is working:

Code: Select all

wine64 "/home/artik/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CC 2019/Photoshop.exe"
But I need to start it with this parameter: __GL_MaxFramesAllowed=1

Unfortunately, the parameter doesn't let me save if it's:

Code: Select all

__GL_MaxFramesAllowed=1 wine64 "/home/artik/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CC 2019/Photoshop.exe"
Image

Any help?

Hi artik,

as i remember, you cannot start a subprocess of photoshop with a command within a launcher.

so try to start the subprocess with a python script.

Make a .py out of the following script :

Code: Select all

PHOTOSHOP = "/home/artik/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CC 2019/Photoshop.exe"

process = subprocess.Popen(
  ["env", "__GL_MaxFramesAllowed=1", "wine64", PHOTOSHOP],
  stderr=subprocess.PIPE)
1. Copy and save it as photoshopstart.txt to /home/YOURNAME/bin/
2. If the Folder bin does not exist ...... create it.
3. Rename the extension of the file to : photoshopstart.py
4. open Terminal and cd to the Path , where the file is stored . Then make it executable with the command :

Code: Select all

chmod a+x photoshopstart.py
5. create a launcher with the command :
/usr/bin/python home/bin/YOURNAME/YOURFOLDER/photoshopstart.py

Hope that helps .........

Because that's not a valid command, that's just shorthand you can use in a shell. The actual command for that is env, so it goes like this:

Code: Select all

env __GL_MaxFramesAllowed=1 wine64 "/home/artik/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CC 2019/Photoshop.exe"

Thanks to both of you for your help. The gm10's solution works perfectly:

Code: Select all

env __GL_MaxFramesAllowed=1 wine64 "/home/artik/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CC 2019/Photoshop.exe"
